Animal shelters have long served as sanctuaries for pets in need, but the way shelters operate hasn’t evolved as it should. In fact, many animal shelters still use methods that date back over a century. These outdated practices often confine animals in close quarters, limit their social engagement, and create environments that make it difficult for animals to adjust, heal, or thrive.

For fifteen years, pet therapy dogs and their handlers have been valued members of the animal therapy program at HCA Florida Englewood Hospital. They visit the hospital three times monthly and have touched countless lives of patients, their loved ones and care teams.
